Uganda Safari Packages for 2026 & 2027

Ready-made Uganda safari packages from 3 to 21 days — gorillas, chimpanzees, big game and birding — each one adjustable to your dates, pace and budget.

A Uganda safari package is a complete, pre-planned itinerary: the parks, the days in each, the lodges, the vehicle and driver-guide, and the permits for activities such as gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. Buying a package means one operator is responsible for the whole journey, which matters in a country where permits are limited and distances between parks are long.

Ameera Africa Safaris is a Kampala-based operator, and the Uganda safari packages below are the itineraries our guests ask for most. None of them is fixed. We treat each package as a starting point and adjust the length, the lodge level, the parks and the activities, so the final plan fits your dates, your group and your budget. If you would rather start from the budget, see our guide to Uganda safari packages by budget; if you are working to a number of days, use packages by length.

What Is Included in a Uganda Safari Package

Inclusions vary by itinerary, and every tour page lists exactly what the price covers and what it does not. In general a package brings together four things:

  • Accommodation in the lodges or camps that suit the level you choose, from simple and good-value to high-end.
  • Transport in a safari vehicle with a driver-guide who knows the parks, with road transfers or domestic flights between regions.
  • Activities and permits, which is where an operator earns its keep: gorilla and chimpanzee permits are issued in limited numbers and must be reserved in advance for your exact dates.
  • Park entry and guiding for game drives, boat cruises and guided walks.

Flights into Entebbe, travel insurance, visas and personal spending are usually separate. Our travel documents guide explains the paperwork, and our safari cost guide explains what moves the price.

Types of Uganda Safari Packages

Most packages are built around one or two headline experiences. Picking the type first makes the choice much easier.

Gorilla trekking packages

The shortest route to Uganda's most famous experience: a trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to spend an hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family. Short packages fit one trek around two or three days of travel; longer ones add wildlife. See our dedicated page on Uganda gorilla safari packages.

Wildlife safari packages

Game drives and boat cruises in Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kidepo, where elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo and hippos share the savannah and the Nile. Read more on Uganda wildlife safari packages, or see the Big Five side of the country on our Big Five safaris page.

Primate packages

Kibale Forest is the home of chimpanzee trekking in Uganda, and many travellers pair it with gorillas on a five-day primate route. Our 5-day primate safari is the classic example.

Birding and special-interest packages

Uganda's birdlife rewards a slower pace. The 10-day birding safari is built around habitat variety, and our Uganda birding tours page explains how to plan one.

Combination packages

First-time visitors often choose the 8-day ultimate Uganda safari, which puts gorillas and savannah wildlife into one well-paced trip.

How to Choose the Right Package

Four questions settle most decisions.

  1. How many days do you have? Three days is enough for one highlight; a week lets you combine two or three regions; two weeks or more allows a relaxed pace and add-ons. Our length guide shows what fits in each.
  2. What must you see? If gorillas are the priority, we plan around the permit first and fit everything else around it.
  3. What level of comfort do you want? This changes the price more than any other choice. See packages by budget.
  4. Who is travelling? Couples, families, solo travellers and groups have different needs. We cover them in our Uganda safari holidays guide.

If you are unsure, send us your dates and interests and we will recommend a package rather than leave you to compare alone.

Private, Group and Fly-In Options

Every package can run privately for your party, which gives you control over timing and pace. Some guests prefer to join a small group to share costs; our page on group and private safari packages compares the two. If time is short or the roads are a concern, fly-in safari packages replace the longest drives with short domestic flights.

Combine Uganda With Rwanda, Kenya or Tanzania

Many guests add a neighbouring country to their Uganda safari. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti in Tanzania all pair naturally with Uganda. We explain the logistics on our pages for Uganda and Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya and the Zanzibar beach extension.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Most first-time visitors choose the 8-day ultimate Uganda safari or the 5-day gorilla and wildlife safari because they combine mountain gorillas with savannah game drives. If time is tight, the 3-day Bwindi gorilla trek covers the main highlight.

Yes. Every package on this page can be lengthened, shortened or rebuilt around your dates, interests and budget. Tell us what you want to change and we will quote the adjusted itinerary.

Book as early as you can, especially if gorilla trekking is part of the plan, because permits are limited and the dry months are the busiest. See our best-time guide for seasons.

International flights into Entebbe are normally booked separately. Airport pick-up and transfers are part of the itinerary; each tour page lists exactly what is included.
