Tallest Mountain in Uganda: Margherita Peak on Mount Stanley

Margherita Peak is Uganda's highest point and the third highest in Africa.

The tallest mountain in Uganda is Margherita Peak, 5,109 metres, the highest summit of Mount Stanley in the Rwenzori Mountains on the border with the DR Congo. It is the third highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya.

Reaching Margherita is a serious mountaineering objective requiring several days, glacier equipment and experienced guides. Most visitors choose the multi-day Central Circuit or short trails such as Bukurungu.
