Kasenyi Plains Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth: Lions, Kob and Open Savannah

Open grassland that is the heart of Queen Elizabeth's big-cat country.

The Kasenyi plains lie in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth and are known for large herds of Uganda kob, which attract lions and other predators. Early-morning drives often find lions near the tracks.

Combine with lion tracking and the Kazinga Channel cruise; see Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Lions and Kob on the Plains

The Kasenyi plains are an open savannah in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth. Uganda kob gather here in the mating season at leks, which attracts lions, leopards and hyenas. Game drives from Mweya reach the plains in about half an hour.

Tips

Go at dawn. Buffalo, elephants and warthogs are also common. See Mweya Peninsula, antelopes of Uganda and Queen Elizabeth.
