Serengeti National Park: Location, Wildlife, Migration and Best Time

Tanzania's great plains, famous for the largest land migration on earth.

The Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania covers about 14,750 square kilometres and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its endless plains host over a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle on their annual migration, followed by lions, cheetahs and hyenas.

Calving takes place in the south around January to February, and river crossings in the north around July to September. See the Masai Mara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Northern Circuit safari.
