Baboons in Uganda: Species, Weight, Diet and Lifespan
The olive baboon is the common baboon of Uganda's savannah and forest edges.
Five baboon species are generally recognised: olive, yellow, chacma, Guinea and hamadryas. Uganda's baboon is the olive baboon, found in most parks. Adult males weigh about 20 to 30 kilograms. Baboons are omnivores, eating grass, fruit, insects and sometimes small animals. They live in troops with strong social structure and can live 25 to 30 years.
They are common near lodges and picnic sites, where they can be a nuisance, so keep food out of sight. See primates of Uganda and animals of Uganda.
